Heritage Lottery Fund Grant

Church Tower Restoration -Heritage Boards

Part of HLF’s decision on the grant will be based on our ‘heritage plans. These include the two Heritage Boards proposed for outside the church and on Stoford Green.

The most exciting news on this front is that, following the Annual Meeting of the Parish last May the Rec Trust were so engaged with the idea of the heritage boards that they have decided to research and fund a board themselves, to be positioned on the Rec Ground!  This is great news and means that there will now be three boards around the parish.  Of course only two will be part of our HLF bid but the third board will be of he same design and general appearance.

Research is now fully underway by a small team of volunteers and we are aiming to have some draft ideas ready for December, by which time we will know if we have been successful in winning the second phase of funding which will enable us to complete the restoration of the church tower.

PS. We will shortly be publishing a collection of articles from our previous village magazine, ‘The Chatterbox’.  These articles have been specially chosen as they relate to the history of the Parish and other areas of interest.  If you are interested in purchasing a copy please contact me. It would make a great Christmas present!
